UNCRC Resources
These resources contain activities for two age groups (primary and post primary) and can be downloaded below. These have been drawn not only from our own experiences but also from the work completed by various organisations including UNICEF, OXFAM, BORIS, Save the Children and Amnesty International.
The Resources are split into 5 sections
- The Icebreaker Activities section includes a number of quick and easy games essential to making participants feel comfortable and producing more effective participation.
- The Primary Resources section include activites for children aged 5-11
- The Secondary Resources section includes activities for young people aged 12-18
- The Make It Right Activities section include resources for children of all ages which have been specifically linked to themes of rights, to encourage young people to campaign. These workshops have also been specifically linked to the school and youth service curriculum.
- The Mid Term Report Resources section includes workshops to help engage children and young people in UN Reporting.
Each activity is broken down into four main areas:
- ‘Aim’ which outlines the right or rights that each activity relates to
- ‘Materials’ this acts as a link to the Materials section of the pack outlining the set of materials which apply to that particular activity.
- The ‘Process’ heading details the number of participants needed for the exercise
- ‘Method’ is a step by step guide to how to carry out the activity and follow up discussion points
The Icebreaker section includes a number of quick and easy games essential to making participants feel comfortable and producing more effective participation.
The exercises within this pack are closely linked with the National Curriculum for both primary and secondary school and it is hoped that these exercises can be used by teachers, youth leaders and other potential facilitators to carry out rights training in both the formal and informal curriculum.
Included below are also resources based on our Make It Right Campaign which have been specifically linked to themes of rights, to encourage young people to campaign. These workshops have also been specifically linked to the school and youth service curriculum.
Feel free to download the materials. If you have any feedback please do so through our information line – info@niccy.org
