Policy and Research

The work of the Policy and Research Team is based on what the NICCY Order says we can, and should, do. This includes:

giving advice to Government on how to improve children and young people’s lives
reviewing the level and quality of services for children and young people
reviewing how well the law protects children’s rights
doing, or getting others to do, research about children’s lives or the work of our organisation
developing good practice guidelines
conducting formal investigations into complaints against relevant authorities

We have done work on many different areas of children and young people’s lives. We also do different types of work, including research, policy papers and advice to government
