A spokesperson said:

“The Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People supports the views of the Welsh Commissioner on developing the roles and responsibilities for all the commissioners in the United Kingdom in order that they can work together in the best interests of children and young people.

“The Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People believes that there is enormous potential for the four commissioners to work together seamlessly on behalf of children and young people, to achieve the requirements of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Children.

“Mr Peter Clarke was tremendously helpful in the period when the commissioner’s office was being established in Northern Ireland, and we offer our support to him in all his work to date.

“The Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People’s views on the Children’s Bill are well known, as all three commissioners issued a statement in March on the bill.”
