“The UK Children's Commissioners cautiously welcome reports that French authorities have taken action to protect, and take to a place of safety, children at the Calais camp, who until today were unaccommodated and at risk of traffickers and exploitation.

"It is essential that French authorities take full responsibility for protecting all children at and around the site, including those who may arrive or return after clearance work is complete.

"We urge both the UK and French governments to work together to ensure these children are safely and appropriately housed and for those eligible to be transferred to the UK as soon as possible.”
