Child Rights Legislation

One of the most important things we are doing is calling on government to put in place Child Rights Legislation.

This means that we want the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child to be in legislation in Northern Ireland, and should direct how government delivers for children and young people. Each child and each young person should have their rights safeguarded and protected.

It also means that parents, carers, grandparents and other key people in a child’s life can be assured that children receive the services they need and government has the right laws and policies in place for children and young people.

They should also get a say in decisions that affect their lives.

Here is a report where we have laid out the options for taking this forward:Childs Rights Legislation - Options Paper - Nov 14 cover.jpg
