Call for Media Sensitivity

The Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People, Patricia Lewsley, has called for the media to display sensitivity in reporting the Omagh fire tragedy, which claimed the lives of seven people, five of which were children.

“I would invite all media outlets to allow the extended family and the community of Omagh, time to grieve.

“This has been a tremendously difficult time for everyone, especially the children and young people in the community.

“Now is the time for the community to be allowed some space.”
