ALMOST exactly two years ago NICCY wrote – along with others – to express our concern that some asylum seekers, migrants and victims of trafficking weren’t getting the healthcare services they and their children needed, and that government plans to introduce new regulations was going to make this worse.

This year the new regulations (The Provision of Health Services to Persons not Ordinarily Resident Regulations 2015) have come into force.

We are pleased that they have made positive changes including that asylum seekers, refugees, victims of trafficking and importantly their children are now able to access GP and hospital care free of charge as are children who have been taken into care.
