Equal Protection Campaign

Join NICCY and a growing number of organisations in the call for reform of the law to ensure that children have equal protection from physical punishment; and for clear action led by government for dedicated positive parenting information and support. Please refer to the joint briefing paper for further information.

Commissioner’s Message

You can watch the Commissioner’s intro video here:

We want to see urgent legislative reform in Northern Ireland to remove the legal defence of ‘reasonable punishment’ to ensure that children are offered the same protection from assault as adults. If you support this and the provision of information and support for parents, then pledge accordingly by registering your name and/or organisation below.  You will be added to the list of organisations and individuals who also recognise children’s right to this protection – as is the case for adults – and recognise the opportunity which the DOJ Bill offers.

We also encourage you to spread the word and share this briefing paper and its key messages with others, particularly elected representatives.
