Commissioner Condemns Ceara Attack

5 May 2009 News

Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young people, Patricia Lewsley, has condemned the attack on Ceara Special School, Lurgan.

Ms Lewsley said she is shocked at the damage and disruption to a school which acts as a lifeline to a group of vulnerable children and young people in the area.

“Those involved in the vandalism and burglary have no regard for the lives and education of children and young people with special educational needs in their local community,” she said.

“The staff at Ceara Special School provide unstinting support to children and young people and this latest attack has caused unnecessary distress and upset to the children and young people at the school.

“Mindless attacks on schools must stop immediately.”
