A statement from the Commissioner on the anti-immigration protests over the last number of days in Belfast.
“The racist and Islamophobic violence and intimidation witnessed over the weekend, particularly the attacks in South Belfast are disgusting and unjustifiable.
“It is fundamentally wrong, and the presence of children and young people during these protests, as shown in circulating videos, is deeply troubling.
“We also must consider the well-being of the children and young individuals who have sought refuge in Northern Ireland and are now living in fear due to these attacks.
“It is essential for the government, communities, and society to strongly condemn this violence and call out disinformation.
“We need to remember our strength lies in being united and everyone, regardless of background, has the right to live in a peaceful, equal society.”
