“Childhood, after all, is the first precious coin that poverty steals from a child” – Anthony Horowitz

Background

NICCY commissioned a scoping report ‘A Hostile Environment –  children and families affected by immigration status and No Recourse to Public Funds’ to explore concerns that not enough is known about the numbers of children and families in Northern Ireland who are affected by No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) conditions or about their access to referral pathways, services and supports to ensure that children’s welfare, health and development are being effectively safeguarded and promoted.

UNCRC “Article 2 (1)  States Parties shall respect and ensure the rights set forth in the present Convention to each child within their jurisdiction without discrimination of any kind, irrespective of the child’s or his or her parent’s or legal guardian’s race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national, ethnic or social origin, property, disability, birth or other status.”
