Liz Milligan – Casework Officer (Maternity Leave)

Legal and Investigations

Liz has a background of working within variety of legal investigatory/advisory and research roles. She worked as a discrimination law advisor for the Equality Commission for NI specialising in the areas of age, race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, and special educational needs. Before this, she worked for the Labour Relations Agency, specialising in areas such as working time regulations (with a particular interest in young workers rights), equal pay, maternity, lay-off, redundancy, dismissal, breach of contract and general employment rights.

She also worked as Equality and Good relations Officer at the Northern Ireland Assembly and helped to deliver public consultation exercises for the Assembly Commission in relation various action plans such as gender, good relations, disability, and audit of inequalities. In relation to these action plans, she was responsible for research, design and drafting of the new action plans, areas of policy development, service delivery and in responding to queries.  This research contributed to the analysis of complex information to support and influence decision-making by working with other Assembly Directorates. She also has experience of carrying out equality screening exercises in relation to duties required under Section 75 legislation. Liz was also on assignment with NIPSO as an Investigating Officer with the maladministration team.

Liz is delighted to have joined team NICCY for this assignment and she hopes to deliver her best for children and young people during her assignment.
