NICCY supports the development of a new strategy to help improve the experiences of victims and witnesses when engaging with the criminal justice system, and the Department’s stated aim of ensuring that all victims receive the support and information they need, when they need it, tailored to individual victim and witness needs.
Whilst NICCY cannot provide an answer to all the stated questions, nor on behalf of victims and witnesses of crime individually, we wish to raise a number of key areas for the Department to consider in the development of a formal consultation paper and new strategy in 2025.
