NICCY welcomes the consultation and agrees that everyone deserves to live in good quality, affordable and sustainable housing. We consider that a children’s rights approach should be considered within the proposals to Review and Enhance the Current Standards and advice the Department for Communities to undertake a CRIA and consider the recommendations made within ‘A Place to Call Home’ as part of these proposals to ensure that children and young people’s rights and experiences are reflected going forward within the pillars.
Whilst we appreciate that, as referenced in the consultation, there are ‘desirable’ components included in the new standards and are included to demonstrate a holistic view of housing quality and encourage housing providers to adopt best practice approach wherever practical to do so.
