Call for Submissions on draft General Comment No. 27 on Children’s Rights to Access to Justice and Effective Remedies

NICCY welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the GC27 process and the importance of ensuring CYPs access to justice and remedies within States and brought into the heart of government. NICCY is happy to provide any further details on these and other areas relating to CYP justice to the Committee.

The Office of the Commissioner for Children and Young People (NICCY) was created in accordance with ‘The Commissioner for Children and Young People (Northern Ireland) Order’ (2003) to safeguard and promote the rights and best interests of CYP in Northern Ireland (NI). The remit of the Office is children and young people (CYP) up to 18 years, or 21 years, if the young person is disabled or was in the care of social services.

Due to the limited word count, NICCY will focus on barriers, enabling factors and strategies, climate justice and the role of the Commissioner. NICCY engaged with members of our Youth Panel (NYP) to inform this submission.
