In 2004 the office of the Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People began a review into how adults are checked to make sure there are no reasons why they shouldn’t work, or volunteer to work with, children.

This became known as NICCY’s vetting report. It was published in 2005, with the title ‘A Right to Protection’.

Since then NICCY has been monitoring the work Government has been undertaking to implement the report’s recommendations.

As Government continues to report back to us on its work to meet the recommendations NICCY will publish further details.
