Advice to Government: Family Returns – Reforming Asylum Support and Enforcing Family Returns
NICCY is deeply concerned that the proposals contained within this consultation risk undermining the rights,…
A rights-based perspective to improving the lives of children and young people in Northern Ireland. Written by children and young people, for children and young people.
This report represents our views on how well government and public bodies are doing at keeping their promises to children and young people on a number of key issues. The UNCRC is a minimum standard that children and young people should expect. Our report shows what the UNCRC says about each issue and also any further explanations the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child have given in their General Comments, which expand on how rights can be properly delivered. You can read more about the General Comments and optional protocols here.
After more than 30 years we still don’t see all children being able to enjoy their rights fully, so we think it is time for the next step to make this happen. We believe The Right Way Forward is to incorporate the UNCRC into domestic law in NINI. We hope you will join us on this journey.
