NICCY Annual Report 13-14

The Corporate Services Department plays an important role within NICCY, supporting the organisation and the Chief Executive in the delivery of effective governance systems, regulatory functions, financial management, internal and external audits, human resources, internal and external communications, administration and support.

The main functional areas include:

  • Finance – The provision of a full range of financial services to ensure NICCY’s activities achieve high and reliable standards of regularity and propriety ensuring efficiency, economy, effectiveness and prudence in the administration of public resources, to deliver value for money. These services include budgetary control, co-ordination of annual budget and capital estimates, the preparation and co-ordination of the annual financial accounts and audit, procurement of goods and services, the payment of suppliers and the provision of payroll services.
  • Human Resources – responsible for the effective management of NICCY processes, with specific areas of work including recruitment and selection, training and development, employee relations, performance management and policy development.
  • Corporate Communications – The Communications Team works and engages with a broad range of stakeholders to raise awareness of the Commissioner and her work. They do this through the implementation of NICCY’s Corporate Communication Strategy and by delivering a range of corporate communications services for the organisation, including media engagement (press office), online communication, publishing, branding and development of promotion and awareness raising materials. They also support other teams to communicate and share their work.
  • Administration – providing core services to the Commissioner and Chief Executive along with being the first point of contact for the public via reception, telephone, email and the web.
