The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act makes it easier for you to get information about us. This law, which came into force on 1 January 2005, means that anyone, anywhere can ask for any information we hold.
The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) came into effect from 25th May 2018. This replaces the Data Protection Act of 1998. Many of the GDPR’s main concepts and principles are the same as those detailed in the DPA.

In order to comply with the Freedom of Information Act, public sector organisations such as NICCY routinely publish information whenever possible.
The Information Commissioner is responsible for monitoring and enforcing compliance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and has drawn up a Model Publication Scheme for all public sector organisations which NICCY have adopted.
