While NICCY’s principal aim is to safeguard and promote the rights and best interests of children and young persons, we also have a role to support parents and families:

The Commissioner shall have regard in particular to the ascertainable wishes and feelings of the child or young person. Furthermore, the Commissioner shall have regard to the importance of the role of parents in the upbringing and development of their children and relevant provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
