The Commissioner for Children and Young People, Nigel Williams, today joined Nathan Pierson, a pupil of Ceara Special School in Craigavon to open the new Childrens’ Centre at Lurgan Hospital. The Centre has been developed by the Craigavon and Banbridge Health and Social Services Trust, to provide one place where all the professionals supporting chronically sick and disabled children can work together.
The Commissioner likened some features of the centre to his own role. “This Centre seeks to be child centred, to provide a special place for parents, and better access for children – all are priorities for me as Commissioner for Children and Young People”.
The choir of Ceara School also performed two pieces using the Makaton sign language at the opening.
