NICCY’s watchdog out and about Northern Ireland

WATCH out for the watchdog!

The Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People office watchdog logo has roared onto bus shelters throughout Northern Ireland as part of an awareness campaign.

The posters are part of ongoing work by NICCY, to make sure that children, young people and parents or carers are aware of the office.

Chief Executive at NICCY, Barney McNeany said: “It’s important to me that as many as possible are aware of my office and what it can do for children and young people.

“We have been very successful to date in letting people know what we do, but we will continue our efforts to make sure more and more people know we can help and endeavour to promote and safeguard the rights and best interests of children and young people.”

The watchdog logo was developed with young people throughout Northern Ireland, and the latest poster was conceived by the NICCY Youth Panel.

The Youth Panel is group of 42 children and young people who help and advise the Commissioner on his work, as well as supporting the recruitment of all staff, and undertaking personal development.

“Without the NICCY Youth Panel much of the awareness work we do would not have the right input from young people, and this latest poster campaign would not be as bright and dynamic,” said Mr McNeany.

The poster is being displayed at 120 bus shelters throughout Northern Ireland
