Statement from the members of NICCY Youth Panel on the death of Nigel Williams, Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People:

“We have lost someone who was committed to making sure that children and young people had a voice and had a say in the things that affect their lives.

“Nigel worked to make sure that all members of the Youth Panel could develop and help challenge and change the world we live in.

“He was always supportive and always believed that we as young people could go on to make a real difference.

“We hope that in the future we can continue that work thanks to his inspiration.

“He was a good friend to the panel and he really valued our opinion and took the time to talk to us.”
